Your data, plainly.
Draft — last updated 2026-10-21. This is beta wording awaiting legal review, not final terms.
How Red Dates handles personal data under Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act 2012, during the invite-only beta at app.reddates.app/date.
1. Who we are
Red Dates is operated by Invoco Pte. Ltd. (UEN 202622894N), Singapore ("we", "us"). Invoco also runs a separate point-of-sale business; Red Dates data is kept in its own database and used only for Red Dates.
Our Data Protection Officer is Isaac [full name], at [email protected].
2. What we collect
Account: your first name, an email address only if you give one, your passkey's public key (Face ID or Touch ID itself stays on your device), that you confirmed you're 18 or older, and sign-in records.
Couple: who you're linked with, and the invites you make or use.
Birthday, only if you give it: the day and month, never the year. It's for reminders and offers to plan the day (birthdays and anniversaries). Your partner sees only that your birthday is coming up, so a surprise stays a surprise.
Planning: plans, stops, budgets and notes; your home area (an area or MRT station, not an address); your taste profile, including diet and allergies if you add them; swipes; saved and rated places.
Messages: what you write to the secretary, in the Us chat and in plan chat, the replies, and preferences the secretary learns.
Location: places you search for or plan around. In Live mode, only if you tap Share, your latest position (rounded to about 10 m) is kept for up to 15 minutes so your partner can see it, and only your partner sees it. It is deleted when you stop sharing or unlink, and sharing stops by itself when the day ends. We keep no history of where you've been.
Photos you add to Memories: we remove location and camera data when you add them. Clothes photos if you use the wardrobe.
Device: a push address for each device where you turn notifications on. Your settings on this device stay in your browser.
Usage: counts of AI and map look-ups and your couple's monthly AI credits, so we can keep costs and abuse in check. Support: messages you send us.
3. About your partner
Some things you tell us are about your partner. Your partner has their own account and agrees to this notice. Their tastes go to the AI only once they turn AI on themselves, but what you type to the AI about them is sent with your message. Private notes and surprises stay hidden from your partner until you share or reveal them. Please tell us only what's needed to plan a date.
4. Why we use it
To run the app: plans, routes, weather, suggestions, couple features, the secretary, notifications, security, abuse and credit limits, and your requests. We improve the app using statistics from our own records. We do not sell personal data, show display ads, or use your data to train AI models.
5. AI features
AI that uses your data is off until you turn it on. When it's on, what you type, plan details and your tastes go to OpenAI (United States) to write replies. Your partner's tastes are included only if they have also turned AI on. OpenAI also converts search words and place names into codes to match places. Names of places you've been, including ones taken from your memories, may be sent. Place names you look up may go to Google. We never send your photos, photo locations, your live location, your email or account identifiers.
OpenAI says it does not train on this data and keeps it for up to 30 days for abuse checks (to be confirmed against our signed agreement with OpenAI). In the Us chat, the secretary answers only when both of you have turned AI on. Turn it off in Settings → Privacy; the rest of the app keeps working.
To show a place's menu, the venue's own public website (and, if we switch it on, its public menu photos) is sent to OpenAI to read it, whether or not you have turned AI on. Nothing about you goes with it.
6. Who we share with
Service providers acting for us, each getting only what it needs:
- OpenAI: AI replies, matching and menu reading (United States).
- Google: place details, photos and look-ups (United States).
- OpenFreeMap: map tiles, which your browser fetches directly (it sees your IP address).
- Apple, Google and Mozilla push services: the notifications you turn on (the message is encrypted to your device).
- Cloudflare: carries the traffic between you and our server, and can see it unencrypted at its edge. Tailscale carries the older beta address.
Our own server and database are in Singapore. Some providers above process data outside Singapore, mainly in the US, and get only what they need; turning on AI means agreeing to the OpenAI transfer described in section 5.
Your partner sees what you share as a couple. We give data to authorities only where the law requires or allows it.
Google Maps features are subject to the Google Maps Additional Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
7. How long we keep it
Live position: 15 minutes at most. Your birthday: until you delete it. Plans, memories and photos: until you or your partner delete them. Chats: 12 months (the automatic clean-up is being built). Copies of the database are kept for recovery and are moving to a 35-day limit. If you unlink, your private notes, private thread, tastes and unshared surprises go with you.
8. Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or withdraw consent, by emailing [email protected]. AI can be turned off in Settings → Privacy. We reply within 30 days. We may withhold what would reveal someone else's data, such as your partner's private notes. Withdrawing may stop some features (for example, no AI). You can complain to the PDPC (pdpc.gov.sg).
9. Cookies and storage
One essential sign-in cookie. Device settings stay in your browser. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and no third-party analytics.
10. Age and changes
Red Dates is for people 18 and over; if we learn a user is under 18, we close the account and delete its data. We tell you in the app before material changes to this notice, including a change of who runs Red Dates.
